Two in a row for South Wilts

GIRLS from South Wilts Grammar School stormed to victory for the second year running in the Women's Cricket Association Indoor under 15s eight-a-side competition.

A 68-run success against St Edmund's Girls' School was enough for them to take the honours at the event staged at Godolphin School's sports hall last week.

The win earned the South Wilts team a place in next month's Regional Finals at the Dorset Cricket Centre, where they will represent Wiltshire against eight other counties. Further success would secure a place in the National Finals scheduled to take place at the home of the sport, Lord's on March 20.

In the opening game of the tournament, Godolph-in beat St Edmund's by 56 runs to 49. South Wilts then notched 76 runs to Godolphin's 55, setting up the St Edmund's-South Wilts final clash.

The competition is supported by both Salisbury District Council and the Wiltshire Cricket Board through cricket development officer Richard Gulliver.
