Office supplies retailer praised

STAPLES, which has a store on Bourne Retail Park in Salisbury, has received a national business award.

The office supplies retailer has been named Office Solutions Provider of the Year 2003/2004 by national business publication Business Britain.

"Business Britain recognises the importance of having a cost-effective, reliable and high quality office solutions retailer," said editor Graham Plewes.

"In today's business climate, keeping cost to a minimum is imperative - not only are companies trying to increase profits, but they are now looking to decrease expenditure in all areas, including the office."

Business Britain judged each retailer for product range, cost effectiveness, customer service/relations, marketing, company reliability and appropriateness for Business Britain readers.

Staples impressed the publication with its ability to offer smaller firms goods at cheaper prices - previously only a benefit reserved for large companies.

Andy Randall, managing director for Staples, said: "Our research shows that above all, small businesses are looking for value and convenience - that's what Staples offers.

"Despite the tough trading conditions facing small businesses, companies with between one and 20 employees remain our main focus and we're confident in this approach and that there is still room for significant growth in this market."
