Asians 2nd are back in the groove

Asians 2nd got back to winning ways by defeating Civil Service by eight runs in Division 1 of the Swindon Indoor Cricket League.

Sim Johal top-scored with an unbeaten 27 as Asians made 103-3, a target which Civil Service, bolstered by Paul McDonald's 31, threatened to reach before falling away at the end.

Wootton Bassett remain top of Division 2 after despatching Minety by 19 runs, thanks largely to Rod Bartlett's unbeaten 59.

However, Minety's luck changed as they recorded their first win of the season, beating Litten Tree by one wicket in the last over.

Litten Tree, now in danger of the drop, posted 120-1. Mark Brown hit 29 not out, and despite Julian Brown taking 3-9, Minety were always up with the rate.

Wanborough are still chasing hard in second, after defeating Nalgo 2nd by 27 runs. Andy Clinning top-scored with 34 not out as Wanborough posted 129-4, but after a bright start Nalgo lost wickets in a rush at the end of their reply.

South West Clothing improved their prospects of staying in Division 3 when they beat Ramsbury by four wickets in the final over, while at the top of the table United Churches stay out in front after beating Nalgo 3rd by 58 runs. Andy Foster hit 43 not out in Churches' 139-3.

In Division 4, Wanborough 2nd continued their renaissance by hammering Wroughton 2nd by 36 runs to move out of the bottom two. Ian McMurray rattled up 31 not out in Wanborough's 117-5 and then Sean Tregunna took 3-30 to bowl Wroughton out for 81, Steve Hale with 32.
