Man in court on charge of dangerous driving

LORRY driver William Ishani, 47, appeared before Bedford Magistrates yesterday charged with causing the death of a family of four through dangerous driving.

Murtaza Khambaty, 30, his wife Tasneem, 31 and their two young children died when their Ford Escort was in collision with a lorry on June 5 last year.

The crash happened on the M1 near Milton Keynes as the family, who were from Northampton, returned from an evening out in London.

Ishani, of Kingswood Avenue, Park North, Swindon, spoke only to confirm his name and address at the brief hearing. He did not enter a plea.

He was released on unconditional bail to appear at Luton Crown Court on February 24.
