The song lingers on

Nursery children sang the same song over and over again to raise money for charity.

About 65 children, aged between three months to five years old, gave a lengthy rendition of I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing at the Jigsaw Day Nursery in Windmill Hill Business Park, Blagrove.

The sing-a-long was sponsored by the children's parents and the nursery is hoping to raise £300 from the event for I CAN, a charity which helps children with language difficulties.

Children and staff came together in a circle for the performance with the babies and their carers in the centre.

They sang a couple of verses from the song repeatedly for about 10 minutes.

After completing the sing-a-long the children received certificates and stickers as a reward.

Nursery manager Angela Farmery said: "Speech and language is so important at this age and the event raised awareness about children who do face difficulties.

"The children found learning this song great fun and they did really well."

Last year the nursery raised about £1,200 for good causes with a variety of events.

This year staff are looking forward to organising a "toddler waddle" in Lydiard Park in June in aid of children's charity Barnardo's.
