Kids earn raft of sail trophies

FOUR young sailors picked up trophies to mark their achievements on Friday night.

The youngsters all collected West Wilts Sailing Association awards at the group's annual prize-giving ceremony at Westbury Leigh Community Hall.

Association commodore Leigh Walker and Westbury MP Andrew Murrison handed out the prizes as the group celebrated a year that has seen them scoop a lottery grant.

Charlie Luckham and Catherine Honor shared the Junior Trophy, which is given to the sailor who has made the most progress in the 12 years and under group. Nick Simons won the Laslett Cup the equivalent trophy for senior cadets.

Completing the line up was Peter Lane who collected the Lynne Yates shield for best trainee instructor.
