JAZZ Carlin missed out on a medal spot in the 200m freestyle in Glasgow this evening.
The former Wootton Basset School pupil clocked a time of 1:57.26 as she finished sixth behind winner Emma McKeon from Australia, who clocked a new Games record of 1:55.57.
England's Siobhan-Marie O'Connor looked all set for a gold having led from the off but, as she approached the penultimate turn, she was caught by McKeon.
The former Youth Olympic champion would not be pegged back after that and took gold in a Games-record time of 1:55:57, with O'Connor taking silver and Australia's Bronte Barratt in third.
Carlin will now focus on her more favoured events, the 400m and 800m freestyle.
Swindon's Tilly Gray missed out on a place in the final of the women's 100m butterfly at the Commonwealth Games this evening.
After moving through the morning's heats, English swimmer Gray finished seventh in her semi tonight.
Gray was a late call-up to the event and still has her more favoured 200m butterfly event to come.
