10:39pm

That is for this evening, but don't forget you can read a report, pictures and comment in Monday's Tapes-Up.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

10:38pm

The final word rightly goes to Simon Gustafsson, who scored 15 points to silence a few critics.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Simon Gustafsson will be given time by Robins' boss Alun Rossiter

SIMON GUSTAFSSON

"Thing's have been hard for me and I've been dropping a few points in all my leagues but to score points like this is great," he said.

"I felt confident on the bike and rode well so it's really pleasing for me, even though the team lost.

"I need to score like this more regularly and I hope I can now."

10:36pm

Speaking after the meeting, Alun Rossiter was pleased to see his side restore some pride in the closing stages of the meeting.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Alun Rossiter

ALUN ROSSITER

"It was always going to be hard, coming here without Peter, but if I'm honest I thought we might have done a little better," he said.

"We restored some pride in the final few heats which was really good to see, because it had been a tough night.

"The big positive was Simon's performance because that's the rider I signed in the winter."

10:33pm

First off is Nathan Greaves who endured a tought night but is staying positive.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Robins’ boss Alun Rossiter gives debutant Nathan Greaves a pep talk

NATHAN GREAVES

"It was really hard for me, I came off more times than I raced I think, but I'm okay.

"This was always going to be hard but I'm enjoying it and I'm learning all the time so there are positives.

"It's a shame the team didn't win but we have a home match coming up and we can get some points there."

10:31pm

Sorry for the delay, got kicked out the stadium and struggled for internet. Some reaction coming right now.

FINAL SCORE

Eastbourne Eagles 54 Swindon Robins 37

9:25pm

Heat 15: Gustafsson, Batchelor, Lahti, Michelsen; 58.5 – 1-5 (54-37)
Magnificent from Gustafsson round the outside of turns one and two for victory. Great night for him as Robins end a tough night on a max.

The sport is becoming a joke. Painful as it is to say that after 30 years supporting the Robins. Its painful to see what goes on. Give it a go and do the best you can. How can it be the best you can without your #1. No wonder small crowd. Shooting self in foot. Sad. Gradually losing hope about a sport I love.

9:19pm

Batchelor, Gustafsson, Lahti and Michelsen for heat 15 when round eight of tractors is over.

9:15pm

Heat 14: Woodward, North, Worrall, Halsey; 58.2 – 3-3 (53-32)
The two Robins settle in behind Woodward.

9:11pm

Heat 13: Batchelor, Michelsen, Morris, Pedersen; 58.5 – 4-2 (50-29)
Great win from Batch who storms from the gate to victory.

9:05pm

Heat 12: Gustafsson, Blackbird, Lahti, Worrall; 58.6 – 3-3 (48-25)
Really nice from Gustafsson as he storms around the outside to take the win. Great stuff.

9:00pm

Heat 11: Kylmakorpi, Batchelor, Michelsen, North; 58.4 – 4-2 (45-22)
Kylmakorpi gates to victory.

8:49pm

Interval time, which means more tractors.

8:44pm

Heat 10: Pedersen, Lahti, Morris, Sedgmen; 58.8 – 5-1 (41-20) – 5-1 (41-20)
Morris loses second place to Lahti on lap two and despite a late run for the line can’t get it back.

8:39pm

Heat nine (re-run X2): Worrall, Blackbird, Greaves FX, Halsey FX; 58.9 – 2-3 (36-19)
The Robins duo gate on a 5-1 before Halsey falls alone in turn three and is excluded. Greaves suffers the same fate in the re-run before Worrall beats Blackbird in a match race.

8:36pm

Greaves is excluded of course, so just the two riders in the re-run.

swindonbob says

Looks like bumper wage packets for all the Eagles tonight. This season is turning into a farce. The draft system is a hinderance leaving the teams who scraped the barrel woefully under-strength. Swindon has an uphill task carrying our reserves. Then we aren't allowed a guest to cover for PK so a rain dance is our only hope.

8:35pm

Really tough on Greaves again as he hits the deck while third in the re-run. Looks like he might have hurt his shoulder.

8:30pm

Robins reserves gate on a 5-1 in heat nine before Halsey slips under the fence in turn three. Harsh on Greaves especially.

Halsey excluded.

8:29pm

Plus, Gustafsson needs to keep impressing. Looked okay so far.

8:29pm

This meeting is as good as over but there's still some pride to retain.

8:27pm

Tractor racing round five is go.

8:26pm

Heat eight: Woodward, Gustafsson (tac), Kylmakorpi, Sedgmen; 58.0 – 4-4 (34-16)
Gustafsson goes outside Kylmakorpi and inside Woodward and looks to have made it stick, but the home skipper bites back.

8:22pm

Second tactical ride goes on Gustafsson in the next one

8:20pm

Heat seven (re-run): Lahti, North, Halsey, Greaves FX; 58.4 – 4-2 (30-12)
After all four riders come back after Greaves fall, the young reserve goes down again but this time clears the track as the hosts take another heat advantage.

8:14pm

Was this a lost cause before we even started? Possibly. Looking like one now though.

8:14pm

Round four of tractor racing already. Six heats gone.

8:12pm

Greaves hit the fence in turn one of heat seven and it's all four back. He was lucky in my opinion as he went down under zero pressure. That was a satisfactory start.

8:08pm

Heat six: Kylmakorpi, Woodward, Batchelor (tac) Morris; 58.6 – 5-1 (26-10)
Going in black and white, Bacthelor can only manage third despite almost taking his friend Woodward into the fence.

8:07pm

Batchelor going in black and white off the outside in heat six

8:05pm

Heat five: Pedersen, Michelsen, North, Sedgmen; 58.6 – 5-1 (21-9)
Gate and go for the Eagles. Sedgmen chased well but no joy before slipping behind his partner.

8:00pm

Tractor racing round two

7:58pm

Heat four: Blackbird, Gustafsson, Woodward, Worrall; 58.0 – 4-2 (16-8)
Gustafsson and Blackbird enjoy a tough battle through the first four turns, which the home reserve eventually wins.

7:54pm

Heat three: Michelsen, Morris, Kylmakorpi, Sedgmen; 58.0 – 4-2 (12-6)
After missing the start, Morris moves past his teammate before making a superb pass on Kylmakorpi stich on the home straight of lap two.

7:51pm

Sedgman's first outing comes off gate one, against Michelsen and Kylmakorpi.

7:50pm

Bob Dugard is out on his tractor after just two heats. This really winds a lot of people up.

7:48pm

Heat two: Blackbird, Halsey, Greaves Worrall; 59.0 – 5-1 (8-4)
Both Eagles gate to a 5-1, as Worrall is held up by his partner as he gives chase.

7:45pm

That was exactly what Gustafsson needed given the amount of pressure he's under right now. More needed though.

7:43pm

Heat one: Gustafsson, Pedersen, Lahti, Batchelor; 57.4 – 3-3 (3-3)
Gustafsson makes a great gate and holds off Pedersen into turn one before roaring to victory. Batchelor can’t pass Lahti.

7:41pm

Pedersen, Lahti, Bacthelor and Gustafsson in heat one.

7:40pm

Two minutes on for heat one

7:39pm

Robins captain Troy Batchelor wins the toss and takes gates one and three in the opening heat, with the Eagles now with the choice of gates in heat 15.

7:34pm

Parade done and now 14 bikes explore the track.

7:32pm

A few screams for Eastbourne asset Simon Gustafsson.

Here come the riders

7:30pm

Edinburgh rider Sam Masters is here tonight in the Robins camp, having driven eight hours today to keep Monarchs teammate and flatmate Justin Sedgmen company during his guest appearance.

7:28pm

A really small looking crowd here tonight. Guessing a mix of the weather and a jam packed sporting TV schedule put a lot of people off.

7:25pm

Nick Morris rides at five tonight, on what appear to be his first appearance here since May 2012. Hopefully he remembers his way round.

Speaking to him a little earlier he admitted the track was pretty wet following this afternoon's rain but "it will be alright."

7:22pm

The Robins came to Eastbourne two years ago in a similar position to this evening, missing Hans Andersen who was at the birth of his first child, and went away with a 48-42 defeat.

On that occasion, however, they were able to use Elite League regular Scott Nicholls as a guest rather than Premier League rider Justin Sedgmen today.

On the subject of Gustafsson, the Swede is in something of the last chance saloon. While it’s not clear just how close Rosco is to pulling the trigger on the second string’s spell in Wiltshire, what is for sure is that he needs a rapid improvement to keep his place.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Simon Gustafsson will be given time by Robins' boss Alun Rossiter

SIMON GUSTAFSSON

Having spent five years or so with the Eagles there is no better place for Gustafsson to show what he’s truly capable of.

7:11pm

Alun Rossiter has shuffled his riding order, essentially trying to hide Sedgmen, meaning Troy Batchelor has switched to number one with Nick Morris at five.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Alun Rossiter

ALUN ROSSITER

Simon Gustafsson rides at number two for the first time after Rosco switched the Swede in order to help him find the form we all know he’s capable of.

Kildemand's absence is bound to be a huge blow to Swindon this evening, but at least he enjoyed a fruitful trip to Slovakia. The Dane finished second in his qualifier in Zarnovica and now progresses to the Challenge meeting in June.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Peter Kildemand

PETER KILDEMAND

7:06pm

That rider is club asset Justin Sedgmen who rides for Edinburgh in the second tier, and the Aussie rides at number there tonight.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Justin Sedgmen

JUSTIN SEDGMEN

7:05pm

The big news of course is that there is no Peter Kildemand tonight due to his European Championship commitments in Slovakia.

PETER KILDEMAND

The BSPA don’t recognise the competition which means no guest or rider replacement facility, with Rossiter’s only option a six-point Premier League rider to fill the void.

7:01pm

Despite heavy rainfall during the day here on the south coast, the sun is out and the sky is blue and we're going to get some speedway.

7:01pm

Good evening one and all and welcome to the Adver’s live coverage of the Robins’ visit to Eastbourne.

Another match were we have been defeated yet again.
Only one rider to score double points - well done Simon, credit were credit is due - I am one of the first to give negative comments when you are not riding well. Did the rest of the team turn up - was Justin actually there?
Troy does not seem to be at his best, and Morris blows hot and cold. We need to do something about the reserve berth, back to the drawing board again Rossiter? - we are better than this.
