Morris knows he needs to step up and help fill the void

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Nick Morris Nick Morris

NICK Morris has insisted the remaining Robins need to perform to the very best of their ability if the team are to gain anything from tonight’s visit to Eastbourne.

The 2012 Elite League champions are without star man Peter Kildemand tonight due to his European Championship commitments, with Premier League rider Justin Sedgmen taking his place in the team.

That leaves Morris knowing he and his teammates need to step up and help Sedgmen fill the void left by their talismanic Dane, if they are to take anything away from the south coast.

“It’s definitely going to be tough round there so we all need to be at our best if we are going to get anything,” he said.

“We’ll go down there and give it all we’ve got and hopefully we’ll get something.

“The home riders are always really fast round there because it’s a funny track but we’ll do out best.”

Eastbourne go into tonight’s meeting having won all of their home matches this season, but co-promoter Trevor Gear has insisted their away displays need to improve if they are to move their way up the league table.

“This is arguably our most important, and certainly the busiest, week of our season so far,” he said.

“We know that while our home record speaks for itself and can be ranked favourably alongside any of our rivals; results on the road over the last season and a half in particular have left much to be desired.

“That is a situation that must, and so far as we are concerned, will be addressed this week.”
