Big shame about Nile's departure from the County Ground.
There was always an air of expectation at the County Ground when Nile Ranger was included in the team.
Considering he never looked remotely fit whilst here, he was absolute class and we will be much worse without him.
Unfortunately his off the field problems has blighted his career many times over, but that has happened to many very talented players in the past such as Georgie Best, Paul Gascoigne, Joey Barton, and Stanley Bowles to name but a few.
I for one will miss his presence at Swindon Town, and he will probably now end up playing for someone like Bristol City.

With a few missing out of what many would say would be their preferred starting eleven, we can but hope that the replacements brought in go out have a good game and bring the season to a close on a high note. Then we can all concentrate on backing Power to sort out this awful mess at the board room, and that would make us all happy. Give Jed what he wants and get rid, once and for all.

Just returned and no further improvement but never mind eh! It's not been a bad season but it has been patchy. More consistency needed and that elusive 'killer' to add the touch that's been alluded to again. Possibly better fitness too. Improvement in basics please Mr. Cooper and that includes discipline. A touch of icing on the cake and who knows where we could end up next time around. I'm optimistic provided the boardroom wrangles can be ironed out but therein lies a different story altogether! Hope you all have a happy summer and we've still got the World cup to look forward too. COYR's and England too.

Second half was much better than the first when we were second to every loose ball and rather poor. Gutted for McEverley that his piledriver smacked against the crossbar instead of going in, deserved a goal in what looked like his last match for us, big hug from Cooper as he came off at the end.

Hopefully a new striker and a few additions, cut some of the dead wood and the last of Paolo's high earners and we go again in a couple of weeks.

Solid season, just a bit gutted that Jan and Feb we were off the pace or we could have nailed the top 6 at least.

Enjoy your summer everyone…. now where is that cricket bat?

Yes that was a good season and very unexpected but lets not kid ourselves goals from Ranger and Ajose certainly helped keep us in this Division and without them we would have been struggling. Today showed up the glaring problem of scoring goals and we certainly need a couple of decent strikers for sure and gutted really that Ranger could not control his life off the pitch as he would have been fantastic to lead the Town next season but that's all gone now. Surprised Jay has been shown the door but may be the knee issue has done him no favors and I'm sure he needs another operation but will be missed he has been brilliant last few months and had a great game today. Town had a great second half today and showed some good form after a nightmare first half and did suffer with so many players missing I feel. Love to see Stephens back next season and keep our Troy that would be good to build on but certainly can't see Fods being here next year but hope I'm wrong.

Definite game of two half's. Rotherham totally deserved their lead at half time.
But what a great comeback and we were unlucky not to get a point, but bad misses also did not help.
Myself and my best friend had a laugh in the Don Rogers though, we applauded Rotherham's very good 2nd goal and some young twank to our right said " What are you clapping their goal for" to which my mate said "Because i like watching good football", and we both laughed, kids and the society of today eh.

Sorry I'm with Grim. Pringle looked sharp and made some telling passes and incisive runs. No doubt about Luongo's ability and today like so many games this season we saw it only in patches. My mom was Jmac and not based on sentiment just because it was his last game. His commitment all season has never wavered and was again evident today and his cards whilst somewhat rash sometimes never didn't show that. I'll miss chatting up his mrs. At away games lol! I wish him all the best.
Don69's summation pretty much nailed it - we were already on hols when they were two up and pegging it back was always going to be difficult. Thought Smiths touch was better today and on the second half showing were perhaps worth a point.
It's going to be an interesting summer with the ownership wrangle, the reduced budget and a smaller squad to look forward to.
Finally well done Cooperman on getting us to 8th place as a rookie manager, yes you've made some gaafes but you've also had to work on a shoestring and deal with the Ranger shenanigans. End of term report 7.5/10 and look to do better next season given the tools for the job.

Considering the circs this season, I'd say 9 out of 10. First half today showed up his squad's weaknesses again. They brushed us aside so easily. At half time I couldn't see us scoring from open play, although we did give them a few scares later. By the way, it looked a very soft pen from where I was sitting but nobody else has mentioned it so I suppose the ref got it right.

Jock, I'll end the season with a flurry and give you a + as I do a lot of the time. I think your summing up was about correct. The "exit" list was quick, but I'm not surprised Jay has gone as he needs all the money he can get now for the next few years and we obviously don't measure up to that expectation. I'll also be surprised if TAH stays, but on reflection the pay as you play is a fair offer given his indifferent fitness, but he is worth his money, as in my view he has saved us so many times. His reading of the game in my view has increased and no doubt he was a bit rusty after so long out. As you say the board needs to get sorted, and we now stand a chance at the start of next season being a sustainable club on our own footing at last. The next few weeks will no doubt be frustrating and interesting.

Blimey Den I reckon you've got the hots for Cooperman lol! I think 9/10 is a tad over generous. Yes he's done well in the circumstances as I think most would agree but IMO he's more than once shown a lack of tactical nous that just might have made a difference, sticking so bloodymindedly to playing Hall and Ward ( what's happening with him I wonder?) springs readily to mind. All academic though as there were other factors and ifs. If ranger had applied himself instead of going AWOL , if our talented midfield had been more consistent etc.
Wiz - yep never a dull moment following STFC - have a good summer.

Finally good luck to Wes at his new club wherever that is, can't see him giving us yet another season he's surely championship calibre.

See Gary Roberts has been voted L2 player of the season, but that's his level I feel.

Wonder what the roller coaster has in store for next season?

End of term report 7.5/10 and look to do better next season given the tools for the job.[/p]
Considering the circs this season, I'd say 9 out of 10. First half today showed up his squad's weaknesses again. They brushed us aside so easily. At half time I couldn't see us scoring from open play, although we did give them a few scares later. By the way, it looked a very soft pen from where I was sitting but nobody else has mentioned it so I suppose the ref got it right.[/p]
Blimey Den I reckon you've got the hots for Cooperman lol! I think 9/10 is a tad over generous. Thought the game summed up the season really, 2 different Swindon's in each half. The second half was very good and McEverley and Llonguo were the stand outs. Gladwin looks a bit slow and cumbersome at time but also looks a class footballer.

Really sorry to hear Jay has been released, he has the experience and attitude that will be sorely missed in such a young squad. What a cracking shot yesterday that hit the bar! I reckon the defender running towards the ball saw him charging at it and bottled out.

Also enjoyed my couple of pints of 3 B's in the Swiss Chalet beforehand.

I see the Pox have failed again, and Gas have sunk deeper now onto the depths of the Conference. Sad. For what its worth I'll predict now that Messrs Pardew, Atkins and Lambert will all be looking for new posts this summer, and I'll be surprised if Leeds manager Brian McDermott keeps his post.: Hats off to Dyche for doing a brilliant job in getting Burnley up. I see Caddis hit headlines and became a hero for Brum in injury time and Town old boy Lucas Jutkiewicz scored and Town favourite Danny Ward came good with a hat trick, on the last day of this rather up and down season.
The next few weeks here, will be rather interesting especially if Power does decide to dish the dirt on Jed, somehow I don't think he will.

Nice one Jock! If you're right that he stuck bloodymindedly to the Ward-Hall partnership, then fair enough. I'd probably take it down to 7/10. But do we know that was the case? Early in the season Archibald-Henville was injured, Branco would have been a big gamble and Stephens had not appeared on the horizon. If you add to that the facts that Power admitted he usually says "no" to Cooper and the "play them or we take them back" arrangement for the Spurs players, I think there's a strong case for suggesting Cooper had very little choice.

Disagree completely on the tactical nous. His tactics have brought us several wins against top teams that I wouldn't have thought possible. It was rarely fantastic to watch. It couldn't be, as it was all about making sure our lightweight players weren't overrun in midfield - the only way we could keep our heads above water. If we don't strengthen in the right areas next season, we'll probably be in for more of the same. Hope that's not the case.

For me, a measure of Cooper's achievement is that not one player has had an outstanding season - and yet somehow we've managed to finish 8th.

DAZ, I say it was a good season because we had a squad with a number of big weaknesses in it. We had a poor defence for half the season, plus a non-striking strike force and a lightweight midfield for most of it. You obviously think the squad was stronger than I do. We all want promotion but a lot of us - me included - thought we were in for a relegation battle. That's why we're happy.

Because most of realize we are not Real Madrid or Bayern Munich and do not have the capability of going the season unbeaten.
You keep going on about this 12 or 16 games but a lot of those were draws, granted we only won 2 but the fact is we managed to pick up points in all bar 6 games of those games and that helped us to get to a very good 8th place.
We finished off the season getting 19 out 30 points against a lot of good teams, yet i don't see much credit posted about that.
What would have been an "acceptable" amount of losses then?

Massive effort in the pre- season to repeat finishing 8th but i will be hoping we get into the playoffs next season.[/p]
It will be a long summer especially with the board room and who knows what sort of team will be here next season ...Hope something happens fast... Hope you and everyone on here has a great summer[/p]
Look on the bright side Dazza! how do you think Bristol Rovers fans are feeling?????????? the don69

I thought we initially signed him on a three year contract, I may be wrong and if I am I'll stand corrected. Would love to see him come good.

You must have been watching a different game to me, I can't remember one thing Waldron did that impressed, both may be given another year, but really will need to improve dramatically to make their mark at this level.
