No need for Yaser op

SWINDON Town manager Mark Cooper has confirmed that Yaser Kasim will miss the remainder of the season through injury but the stress fracture the Iraqi suffered on one of his metatarsals will not require corrective surgery.

Kasim, who has made 45 appearances for the Robins following his arrival at the club last summer, missed the victory over Brentford and has since been assessed to determine the extent of the damage to his foot.

There were initial fears that the former Tottenham youngster would have to go under the knife in an effort to aid his rehabilitation but Cooper told the Advertiser that was deemed unnecessary.

“Yaser has got a stress fracture of one of his metatarsals. He won’t feature for the rest of the season but he won’t need an operation,” Cooper said.

“When it’s a stress fracture, with it being a metatarsal, there’s always a chance that it might need pinning but the surgeon has said it’s so small he doesn’t need too.”
