A 24-year-old woman who was attacked as she walked home from police headquarters in Devizes has spoken of her ordeal

She thanked colleagues for their support after the incident during the early hours of Tuesday.

She said: "I was walking home along London Road at 00:10 when I noticed four males were walking behind me.

"They were being verbally abusive but I ignored them and just carried on walking.

"As I approached Roundway Park one of the men from the group ran towards me and assaulted me which caused me to fall.

"I have been left with cuts and bruises on my face and hands. I saw the group run away in the direction of the town centre.

“The whole incident left me feeling a bit shaken up for a while, but I am fine now and I feel reassured with the support of my colleagues, who have all been really supportive.

“I really hope anyone who may have been driving past at the time, or anyone who has information, contacts the police so this group of people do not get away with what they have done."

Police have appealed for witnesses to the attack.
