The new headteacher installed at Southbroom Infants School in Devizes, Caroline Jackson, has said she was delighted to be appointed.

Mrs Jackson had been deputy to Jan Wilson, who retired as the school’s headteacher after 17 years, in May this year.

She has been at the school for three years and said: “I’m really excited about taking the school from strength to strength and am very keen to develop partnerships with parents and the community.

“I feel very privileged to be leading a very special school with fantastic children and a committed staff.”

Before she joined Southbroom, Mrs Jackson was a behaviour support teacher for Wiltshire Council, mainly based in Westbury, and was previously deputy head at Long Meadow School in Trowbridge.

A mother of a 12-year-old son and seven-year-old twins, Mrs Jackson lives in North Bradley. She has been a teacher for 24 years.

She added: “Southbroom Infants School has a family ethos and there is a very special feel to the school, which visitors remark on when they come in.”

The school has 170 pupils at the moment, but this will rise to 200 with September’s intake.
