Charity festival Mantonfest is getting ready to rock once again with 1960s chart-toppers Swinging Blue Jeans headlining the event.

It has been organised by the Manton Village Hall committee to raise money for the building and to support St John's Ambulance.

The festival launched in 2012 as a one-day event but has grown in popularity and been extended to two days.

Some familiar faces will return including Skedaddle, Straight Six and Mother’s Jam, as well as new acts.

Chairman Roger Grant said: “We’re trying to get new acts in and this time for the first time we’ve got a fairly big headline act.

“We’re getting the hang of it now and it’s becoming quite a smooth operation so hopefully it will be bigger and better than ever.”

Music lovers will be treated to artists from a range of genres including jazz, indie-rock, blues and rock and roll.

The festival starts in the beer garden of the Outside Chance on Friday, July 4, from 7pm with music from Mike Booth, Onyx, Eddy Witchcomb, Billyjon and Friends and Larry the Landlord.

The main event will be held at Manton Grange Watermeadow in Preshute Lane on July 5 from noon to 11pm. There will be a marquee if it rains.

Advance tickets cost £10 from Sound Knowledge, The Outside Chance or by calling (01672) 516235. Visit www.facebook.com/mantonfest
