Devizes schoolboy has ‘pride and joy’ bike stolen
5:00pm Friday 9th May 2014 in News
Devizes schoolboy Samuel Potter is in the depths of despair this week after the dream bike that he got for his birthday was stolen while he was doing an errand for his mum.
Samuel, from West View Crescent, had been given the £300 Wethepeople BMX bike for his 15th birthday on April 5 and he took it to fetch a pint of milk from the Esso filling station in The Nursery at around 10.30pm on Sunday.
When he emerged after buying the milk the bike was nowhere to be seen.
Mum Catherine Hipkiss, said: “I feel so responsible as Samuel was doing me a favour. He parked the bike so that it wasn’t in anyone’s way but unfortunately it couldn’t be seen by the CCTV either.
“The family clubbed together to buy him the bike and it was his pride and joy.”
The bike is an Arcade model, black with orange lettering and handlebars, with a sticker bearing the retailer’s name Onyerbike.
Samuel was not the only victim of a recent spate of bike thefts in the area, and anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
