Bristol Street in Malmesbury will be closed for up to four weeks in April while sewer renovation work is carried out.
Wiltshire Council has confirmed the road will close in both directions between Bremhilham Road and West Street to allow Wessex Water to carry out the work during the Easter school holidays.
Arrangements are expected to be in place for residents’ access, but all other traffic will be diverted.
The full town council meeting on Tuesday voted that a diversionary route be set up through Acton Turville.
Councillors requested that Wiltshire Council considers using a crossing attendant at Corn Gastons if work is carried out during school hours.
